An internship is a direct route to acquiring real-world experience—you not only will gain on-the-job experience, but will be exposed to contacts that could help you land a future job.

 

This would give the company a chance to interact with students who can be potentially employable in future. Training costs incurred by the companies on training fresh graduates would be reduced. The companies would get industry ready employees from Day 1. This would be beneficial to both the students as well as the industry.
