SAP Business ByDesign Enablement Workshop at SAP Labs 27th March 2012
UA India organized the SAP Business ByDesign workshop at SAP Labs, Bangalore in India from 27 to 30 March 2012. The workshop was delivered jointly by Sanjeev Mehta, Vice President, Solution Management, SAP Labs, India and Prof SVK Bharathi from Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology. The participants got an understanding on the Business ByDesign concepts and how this could be introduced in their teaching curricula and along with an overview of SAP Product Strategy by the Business ByDesign Team. The workshop was attended by 16 participants from 9 universities.

At SAP Techniversity 2013, industry experts, Ravi Venkatesan, Former Chairman Microsoft India, and Board Member at Infosys and AB Volvo, Vineet Taneja, Country Head - Mobile and Digital Imaging at Samsung Electronics, and Mukund Mohan, CEO, Microsoft Startup Accelerator took the stage to share their experiences and perspectives on key technology topics like cloud computing, In memory technology and internet of things. Insightful debates, and an electrifying Demo Jam contest, kept the energy high, and creativity soaring. Add to this, one of the most popular film and theatre personalities, Boman Irani enthralled the crowd as he shared his stories, and journey.

SAP Faculty Day in Bangalore 17-20th June 2014
SAP University Alliances organized 3 parallel “Train-The-Trainer” (TTT) Workshops and the grand SAP Faculty Day jointly with SAP Labs Early Talent Team in Bangalore.
The one-day SAP Faculty Day event was attended by over 150 Professors from the top-40 Universities in India comprising of Engineering, Management and Design Engineering disciplines. The full day event had various key notes, where Labs leaders : VR Ferose, SVP & Head of Globalization Services, Dilip Khandelwal, Senior VP, Bhuvaneswar Naik, VP & Head of Human Resources, Ann Rosenberg, SVP, Global SAP University Alliances Program, Mangala Seshadri, VP & BI Head, SAP Labs, Rohit Bhalla, Head of Channel & University Business for SAP Education, Shivaram T, Director & Head of HR for Labs India, Anil Warrier, Head & Director – Talent Acquisition India interacted with the audience. There was an absolutely fantastic session by Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief, and Times Now on the topic, “Empowering The Millennial”.

SAP Next-Gen Analytics Cloud Hackathon at College of Engineering Pune - 21 st November 2019
SAP Analytics Cloud Hackathon 2019 under the umbrella of SAP Next-Gen Labs was conducted at College of Engineering Pune on 21 st November 2019. This Hackathon was based on the 6 th goal of the 17 UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) i.e. about Sanitation.
The event started with a brief description about the Hackathon by Mr. Rahul Sachdev, Head of SAP University Alliances, SAP Next-Gen and SAP India Pvt. Ltd.
Mr. Subhankar Pattanayak, Digital Marketing and Analytics Lead, SAP Industries, gave brief description about “SAP Analytics Cloud”, the SAP Analytics Cloud tools and Digital Marketing, and how data is used in analyzing different Business Parameters which results in easy Decision Making.
Dr. B.B. Ahuja, Director & Professor, College of Engineering Pune, felicitated guests from SAP and Mr. Ram Bilas Yadav, Practice Director, SAP HBU at Birlasoft who was invited as a judge. Prof. Ahuja addressed his thoughts and inspired the students who actively participated in the event. In the latter half of the day, nine teams consisting of four in each team were made to use the SAP Analytics Cloud tool with the latest data set on Sanitation and Air pollution to provide solutions on the challenges provided. The participants were provided a time frame of 3 hours to analyze the data and create a Presentation on the Technical details along with the best feasible solution.
At the end of the competition Mr. Ram Bilas Yadav addressed his thoughts about the presentations given by the teams and applauded them for the efforts they put in it. He also shared the upcoming technologies which could indulge Data Analyzing and effective use of it. A Winning and Runner up teams were awarded with goodies by SAP. Finally the event was concluded with vote of thanks presented by a student of PGDERP 2019-20, to all the delegates who gave their valuable time and inputs to the event.
SAP Next-Gen Innovation with Purpose Hackathon at College of Engineering Pune – 13th and 14th November 2018
SAP Next-Gen Innovation with Purpose Hackathon was organized at College of Engineering, Pune, on 13th and 14th November 2018. This was the first Hackathon that was conducted in COEP after the launch of SAP Next-Gen Lab. 30 students worked together on challenges (business scenarios) brought in by SAP. Students used the SAP Cloud Platform and came out with innovative solutions related to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals which SAP is supporting globally.
Dr. B. Rajiv, Head Department of Production Engineering and Industrial Management, College of Engineering Pune (COEP) delivered a welcome speech, highlighting the association of COEP with SAP.
The event was then kicked off by Mr. Rahul Sachdev, Head of SAP University Alliances & SAP Next gen for India Subcontinent. He spoke about the wonderful possibilities of the SAP Next-Gen initiatives and how they have the potential to benefit students, Universities, SAP and it’s ecosystem of Customers and Partners.
The expert from SAP Labs India – Mr. Gaurav Dev gave an overview of SAP Cloud Platform and its capabilities. This was a very important session as it enabled the students to start working on their solutions directly on the platform. Seven groups were formed and the students worked overnight to come-up with brilliant solutions
Dr. Prasanna G. Bhat, General Manager Powertrain Engineering from The Automtive Research Association of India (ARAI) and Mr. Ram Bilas Yadav, Sr. Pre-Sales Manager from KPIT were Invited as Judges at the SAP Next-Gen Hackathon on 14th November. Top three winning teams were awarded.
Dr B.B. Ahuja, Director & Professor, College of Engineering Pune delivered an inspiring keynote at the end of the Hackathon by congratulating all the students and encouraging them to actively participate in such events to get exposure to real-life business scenarios. He also spoke about the various ways in which the academia can collaborate with industries
SAP Next-Gen Hackathon with Syntel at College of Engineering Pune – 9th April 2016
SAP Next-Gen Hackathon together with Syntel at a top UA member institute called College of Engineering, Pune on 9 April 2016. 38 students and 9 employees from Syntel working together on challenges (business scenarios) brought in by Syntel. Students worked on SAP Fiori, SAP HANA Cloud Platform and SAP Lumira. Syntel is an SAP Services Partner, helping clients design, implement and integrate solutions for SAP products, as well as optimize business processes and provide strategic business consultation.
The event was kicked off by Mrs. Vaishali Gaikwad, Assistant Professor from COEP welcomed the delegates from both the corporates and also shared a beautiful presentation on the association with SAP. The college is a member of both SAP University Alliances as well as SAP Education.

Sangaramshimha Dabade, SAP HANA Architect, Syntel then took over to speak about Syntel and motivated the students to imagine and be innovative.
SagarKolhapure, Project Manager, Syntel shared the problem statements with the students together with Sangram throwing light on how these need to be tackled.
Chiranjeev Brahma, Manager, SAP University Alliances India spoke about the wonderful possibilities of the SAP Next-Gen Consulting initiative and how it has the potential to benefit students, Universities, SAP Customers, Partners and SAP highlighting the start of a new collaboration with Syntel on the SAP Next-Gen Consulting initiative in India.
The experts from SAP – Krishna Kumar S and Gaurav Dey kicked off the hackathon with a great overview of SAP HANA Cloud Platform and its capabilities. This was a very important session as it enabled the students to start working on their solutions directly on the platform. Not only the students but the experts from Syntel benefited by these engaging sessions.
SAP Next-Gen Hackathon with Volkswagen at College of Engineering Pune – 2nd April 2016
SAP Next-Gen Hackathon with Volkswagen at a top UA member institute called College of Engineering, Pune, on 2nd April 2016. 30 students and 8 employees from Volkswagen working together on challenges (business scenarios) brought in by Volkswagen. Students worked on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. In total 15 employees from Volkswagen were present at this Hackathon.
The event was kicked off by Mrs. Tripta Nair, Assistant Professor from COEP welcomed delegates from both the corporates.
Mr Milan Kumar, Head, Group IT RCC, Volkswagen then took over to speak about Volkswagen as a group, exciting the students with the number of well established car models that they have globally. He also spoke about the great collaboration between Volkswagen and SAP and how they leverage SAP systems to run their operations.
Rahul Sachdev, Head of SAP University Alliances India Subcontinent spoke about the wonderful possibilities of the SAP Next-Gen Consulting initiative and how it has the potential to benefit students, Universities, SAP Customers, Partners and SAP highlighting the start of a new collaboration with Volkswagen on the SAP Next-Gen Consulting initiative in India.
The experts from SAP – Shankar Duraiswamy and Ajaysimha Dhurbakula kicked off the hackathon with a great overview of SAP HANA Cloud Platform and its capabilities.
The participants spent the entire afternoon ideating and blueprinting the solutions for the problem statements given to them. They spent some intense moments of coding while also some lighter moments over tea, pizzas and cookies. The winning team was awarded gift vouchers and trophy by Volkswagen team.
